The U.S. Labor Department stated that despite of large companies announcing layoffs, Worker filings for unemployment benefits rose by 7,000 for the week ending March 25 to a seasonally adjusted 198,000. The largest increases in initial claims were in Massachusetts (1,293), Mississippi (729), Georgia (627), District of Columbia (607), Tennessee (513), while the largest decreases were in California (2,813), Illinois (1,085), New York (1,056), New Jersey (678), and Michigan (644).

The California-based company, Lucid Group Inc announced to lay off approximately 1,300 employees or 18% of its workforce by the end of the second quarter. This layoff would occur across the company’s U.S. operations and include executives.

As per Goldman Sachs’ report, about two-third of the jobs in the U.S. and Europe would be automated to some degree. AI technology will help to improve labor productivity growth and as well as global GDP by 7%. The report also states that AI could impact 300 million jobs around the world.

According to a Labor Department report, about 72.5% of the business establishments said that their employers have been working on the worksites this is higher than 60.1% in 2021. The survey also found that 21 million workers have been working on-site full time in 2022, compared with the prior year.
