U.S. Employers Added 209,000 Jobs in June

The Labor Department announced that U.S. employers added 209,000 workers in June, which is a slight gain but a drop from May month 306,000. The unemployment rate decreased to 3.6% compared to the prior month from 3.7% in May. Hourly earnings for private-sector workers increased to 4.4%.

Niantic the mobile game developing company as a part reorganization has announced a lay off 230 employees. The company CEO John Hanke said that supporting Pokemon Go is their top priority and Niantic had 1,050 employees by end of 2022.

Singapore-based company Grab announced laying off 1,000 jobs and this is the largest round of layoffs since 2020, as it cut 360 jobs during the pandemic. This layoff is due to manage costs and reorganizing the company in a competitive landscape.

As per the US Labor Department report people voluntarily left 4 million jobs in May. The quit rate of total employment was 2.5% which is low than the 3% in April 2022 and a bit higher than the pre pandemic level. Employers have added an average 314,000 jobs a month this year and private-sector employers added 497,000 jobs in June.

As per the latest wage rules the delivery firms need to pay $19.96 an hour for the workers by 2025. Currently the companies like DoorDash, Uber and Grubhuband are paying a wage of $17.96 as an hourly pay for delivery workers starting July 12 and this wages slow jump to $19.96.
