Cybersecurity Companies Want to Lay off 100’s Employees This Year

Cybersecurity companies recently announced that they plan to lay off 100’s of employees. The companies like Rapid7 laying off 18% of their workforce, Secureworks 15% workforce, Streamlining 15% workforce, HackerOne 12% workforce and they are many other companies that cut staff this year.

As per the labor market, the amount of money the workers demanding to accept a job reached a record high of $80,000 this year. This is up to about 8% from just a year ago and the highest level ever from 2014. Atlanta Fed tracker reveals that overall wages rose to 6% but job switchers seeing 7% gains.

New research from FlexJobs reveals that a career in marketing, tech or video game design will let you from anywhere and even be willing to pay over $100,000 for some jobs. Job seekers interested in “work from anywhere” rose to 88% in June from 80% in April.

The U.S. Labor Department reported that the initial jobless claims adjusted to 239,000 filed for the week ending August 12 decreased by 11,000 compared to the previous week, reaching a total of 248,000 to 250,000 claims. The largest increases in initial claims were in Ohio 5,406, California 2,363, Texas 2,237, New Jersey 1,622, Connecticut 1,288 and decreased in Missouri 781, Florida 410, Iowa 335, Arkansas 198, and Kentucky 79.

Reports from AWA reveal that workers in North America are only going into the office for an average of 1.45 days per week, which is just below the worldwide average of 1.75 days per week. On average per week, office attendance in North America is at 29% which is low when compared with other countries like U.K with 32%, Latin America with 43% and Asia-Pacific with 36%.
